About this tool, tips & examples
What it does
The Raffle Picker draws unique winners from an entrant list — one entrant per line, choose how many winners, and every winner is distinct within the draw. Seeded draws make the raffle transparent: publish the seed and entrant list, and anyone can re-run the draw and verify the result.
Common use cases
- Giveaways — pick one grand-prize winner or several (presets for grand prize, two winners, and podium draws).
- Door prizes and events — draw from the attendee list live on a projector.
- Classroom rewards — fair, repeatable draws students can verify themselves.
- Team selection — pick who represents the group when nobody volunteers.
Settings
- Entrants — one per line; blank lines are ignored. To weight someone (say, multiple tickets), list them multiple times.
- Number of winners — all winners are unique within a single draw.
- Seed — the same seed and entrant list always reproduce the same winners; record it with the results for an auditable draw.
Privacy note
The entrant list stays in your browser — never uploaded. This is a seeded utility: transparent and reproducible for casual raffles, but not a substitute for an independently audited system in regulated or high-value contests.
FAQ
Can the same person win twice? Not in one draw — winners are unique. Across separate draws, yes, unless you remove previous winners from the list.
How do I prove the draw was fair? Publish the entrant list and seed before drawing, then run it publicly. Anyone can reproduce the exact result — randomness with receipts.
Can entrants have different numbers of tickets? Paste a person once per ticket. For explicit numeric weights, the Weighted Picker does the same draw with a weights column.
